About The Course

Does your child have what it takes to be a graceful Bharathanatyam dancer? The Spardha Bharathanatyam Low Intermediate Grade is the right step towards becoming one!
This course is a beginner level curriculum for those who have been dancing for 6-8 months or have completed the Foundation course. During this course, the student not only hones the skills acquired in the Foundation course but also learns the next level rhythm techniques, footwork and hand movements including its application in set dance routines.

Prerequisites

  • Must have completed Bharathanatyam Foundation course or at least 6 months of prior training

Topics Covered

  • Introduction to stretching steps or Natadavus
  • Embellishments using shoulder, neck and eyes
  • Strengthening the spine
  • Advanced Natadavus
  • Introduction to Paraval Adavus or spreading steps
  • Perform Mooshika Vahana shloka and a Swara based dance

Learning Outcomes You Can Expect

  • dance and recite all 8 tatadavus, 8 natadavus and 2 Paraval adavs with hands
  • demonstrate the adavus according to individual ability
  • demonstrate Samyutha Hastas (double hand) gestures, Greeva Bheda (neck movements), Shiro Bheda (head movements) from Abhinaya darpana
  • recite shlokas on Hanuman and Hayagreeva Dieties and perform the pure dance swara piece and Mooshika Vahana shloka Abhinaya piece
